Cosmetic Ingredient Checker Lite: Guide

What it does

• Splits a mixed INCI/Japanese ingredient list while preserving input order
• Matches names against the local dictionary and groups them as Matched, Review, or Unclassified
• Filters the current result by status or main category and lets you copy visible or unclassified ingredient names
• Switches the same analysis view between JP and EN

How to use

1. Copy the full ingredient list from the package or official product page
2. Paste it into the tool and click Check ingredients
3. Review the overall Matched, Review, and Unclassified counts first
4. Use the status/category filters when you want to inspect a smaller subset

Use INCI FastScan instead if you want to start from a product-label photo or OCR.

What the statuses mean

• Matched: the entered name matched a maintained INCI name, Japanese name, or registered alias in the local dictionary.
• Review: a cue for additional checking. It is not a danger rating.
• Unclassified: the current dictionary could not classify the entry. It does not mean the ingredient is unsafe.

Limits

• The tool cannot determine concentration, the complete formulation, individual suitability, allergies, pregnancy suitability, drug interactions, or regulatory status from the ingredient list alone.
• It does not provide medical/dermatological diagnosis or certify the safety of a product.
• Known ingredients can still appear as Unclassified when the spelling or name is not represented in the maintained dictionary.
• Result filters change only what is visible; they do not alter the underlying analysis.

Data and storage

• Ingredient parsing, matching, and filtering run in your browser.
• The tool does not provide saved ingredient-history or saved-result features.
• The JP/EN display preference may be stored in browser local storage when available.
• The maintained ingredient dictionary is loaded from static files on the NicheWorks origin.
