What this tool does
Pattern Atlas is a working visual dictionary for exploring the current pattern catalog, reading meaning and context, editing colors, previewing rendered tiles, and exporting SVG, PNG, and CSS assets.
Basic flow
- Search or filter patterns.
- Review meaning, region, use cases, and caution notes.
- Edit colors and preview the current rendered pattern.
- Export as SVG, PNG, or CSS. Some patterns require an explicit cultural-context acknowledgement before export.
Export formats
SVG is a vector format suited for scalable graphics.
PNG is generated in your browser at the selected size.
CSS is generated with an SVG data URI for using the pattern as a repeating web background.
Cultural context
Some patterns may be inspired by traditional, regional, ethnic, or religious motifs. Exports are modern reconstructions, not official historical reproductions or cultural certification assets. Check context notes before commercial or public use.
Processing and storage
Catalog search, rendering, color editing, PNG conversion, CSS generation, and downloads run in the browser from same-site code and pattern data. Search, selected-pattern, and color-edit state are current-page state; the current version does not provide an account-synced saved pattern library or palette history. Advertising and analytics resources may load separately.

Can I freely use exported assets?
Do not assume unrestricted use. Review each pattern's caution/context notes and do any additional rights or cultural-context checks required for your use.
Are these historically exact reproductions?
No. Treat them as modern reconstructions inspired by pattern traditions.
Are user pattern files sent to a server?
No user image/design upload is required for the current search, edit, preview, and export workflow. Those operations run in the browser; ads and analytics may load separately.
