How to use it, assumptions and FAQ

How much should I store?

Choose household size, days and expected power, water or cooking failures. See gaps by purpose: food, water, toilet, sleeping and other needs. Starting planning figures are three staple-meal occasions, around 3L drinking/cooking water and five portable toilet uses per person per day. Adjust for personal needs; these figures do not measure nutritional adequacy.

Can ordinary groceries be emergency food?

Yes. Canned, retort and dry foods can complement dedicated supplies. Keep staple portions separate from protein and vegetables, and verify preparation instructions. Cup noodles and some oats or dry grains need cooking or potable water.

How does water rehydration work?

For each water-dependent product, confirm the preparation method and enter the total drinking-safe water required for ALL registered portions. Unchecked products are not silently credited when tap water is out. Cooking water uses the same household reserve as drinking water.

Can foil sheets and cardboard replace a sleeping mat?

Floor insulation and body warmth are different needs. Foil and cardboard may help temporarily but are not credited as complete substitutes for both a mat and a blanket.
